Central Florida government officials and nonprofits are expanding access to shelters ahead of a cold front moving through the region, expected to bring temperatures in the 30s across the region. The Homeless Services Network of Central Florida has coordinated efforts to increase capacity to existing shelters when temperatures drop below 40 degrees. Orange County will open two warming centers at the Barnett Park Recreation Center Gym in Orlando and the Goldenrod Recreation Center on North Goldenrod Road in Winter Park. Osceola County will also open three warming centers. The warming centers will operate overnight and reopen for overnight hours on the following morning. Additional shelters in Orange and Seminole Counties will be expanding capacity.
