Boeing to add hundreds of jobs at Embry-Riddle technology park - Orlando Business Journal

Boeing will add hundreds of jobs in Central Florida as part of a partnership with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The Boeing Co. is set to expand its presence at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Daytona Beach campus, bringing over 400 jobs to Volusia County through 2026. The company will lease the Cici and Hyatt Brown Center for Aerospace Technology in the Research Park, which will open by this fall. The presence of Boeing will include staff from its Defense, Space and Security aircraft programs and advanced technology capabilities. By the end of the year, more than 200 roles will be filled, with another 200 expected to be filled over 2025 and 2026 respectively. This partnership is not the first time Boeing has partnered with the college, as the company gave $5.1 million in 2023 to establish the Boeing Center for Aviation & Aerospace Safety at the university.

The company will be the main tenant in an innovation complex set to open this year.

The Boeing Co. will soon launch a massive presence at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Daytona Beach campus.

The Arlington, Virginia-based aviation and aerospace giant (NYSE: BA) announced on June 11 it will bring over 400 jobs to Volusia County through 2026. The company will lease the entirety of the Cici and Hyatt Brown Center for Aerospace Technology in Embry-Riddle’s Research Park, which will open by this fall and includes a 65,000-square-foot business building and 40,000 square feet of research-quality hangar space.

Boeing’s presence — known as Boeing Daytona Beach — would include staff from its Defense, Space and Security aircraft programs and advanced technology capabilities. By the end of the year, more than 200 roles will be filled, with another 200 expected to be filled over the course of 2025 and 2026.

“Today is a momentous day — not just for Embry-Riddle or for the city of Daytona Beach, but for all of Florida,” said Mori Hosseini, chairman of Embry-Riddle’s Board of Trustees. “Four-hundred people and their loved ones will live and work here, invest in our local economy and, more broadly, in the future of aviation and aerospace. It’s an incredible impact, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the State of Florida, and Cici and Hyatt Brown.”

The Browns pledged $25 million to the college in 2022, the largest donation in the college's history.

Embry-Riddle President P. Barry Butler said the presence of Boeing will help provide a place where graduates can be hired but also will allow collaboration between the university and the company. That also comes as the university's 50,000-square-foot John Mica Engineering and Aerospace Innovation Complex — known as the Micaplex — has created over 120 jobs with an average pay of over $78,000.

“The launch of our Research Park in 2017 marked a new era for Embry-Riddle,” Butler said. “By leveraging corporate partnerships, we’ve created a career pipeline that initially funnels students toward hands-on learning opportunities and, ultimately, fills jobs in the critical sectors of aviation, aerospace and STEM-related fields.”

The partnership is not the first between Boeing and Embry-Riddle, as the company gave $5.1 million in 2023 to establish the Boeing Center for Aviation & Aerospace Safety at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The 13,000-square-foot research facility opened in January.

Embry Riddle as of 2022-2023 had more than 7,529 undergraduate and 841 graduate students at its Daytona Beach campus. The college has another campus in Prescott, Arizona and online, with total enrollment of 30,948 across all locations.

Boeing has more than 170,000 people globally, including in Orlando and on the Space Coast.
