Central Florida government officials and nonprofits are expanding access to shelters ahead of a cold front moving through the region. The National Weather Service predicts temperatures in the 30s across the region will remain "feels-like" temperatures into the upper 20s to low 30s. The Homeless Services Network of Central Florida has coordinated efforts to increase capacity to existing shelters when temperatures below 40 degrees. Orange County will open two warming centers at the Barnett Park Recreation Center Gym in Orlando and the Goldenrod Recreation Center on North Goldenrod Road in Winter Park. Osceola County will also open three warming centers. The warming centers will operate overnight and reopen for overnight hours Wednesday.
